The Bunin Puppets with Jimmy Carroll's Orchestra: Foodini's Trip to the Moon

In 1949 Rick and Morty were called Foodini and Zip. To the moon, puppets!

Incidentally this is what the front cover looked like before I restored it, and I must be insane or stupid to have spent so much time cleaning it up, and at the very least my priorities in life are all wrong, so parents please use me as an example of what your kids must NEVER GROW UP TO BECOME:

Waldo the Dog Faced Boy / That Dog: Angel / Campfire (split single)

From 1994, two acts on Win Records, Waldo the Dog Faced Boy and That Dog, share a split 10" single and perform songs that were each written by the other band. Cover illo is by the wonderful and insanely prolific JT Steiny.

Fabulous Deluxe Brothers (Deluxe Radio Theatre): Harv Kirschener / Personality Crisis / The Sex Hygiene Lecture

Here's some swell comedy goodness from the Deluxe Radio Theatre, aka The Fabulous Deluxe Brothers, frequent collaborators with Phil Austin & David Ossman in David's Santa Barbara years in the 1970s. The group at one time featured Duff Kennedy, Richard Procter, David Sincere, and Mark Ward, although I think by the time they cut this single circa 1973 one of them had ducked out (way-hay, see what I did there?). Along with the record I've included a flyer for their radio show, a program for one of their live shows complete with group bios, and the one and only Deluxe Radio Theatre Aural/Electrical Appreciation League membership kit.

辺見マリ Mari Henmi: 経験 Experience / 19歳の変身 I'm Not a Child

From 1970, 20-year-old pop star Mari Henmi informs the world definitively that she's no longer a child. One of the mystery cues from the Firesign Theatre's Dear Friends that I was never able to identify!

The Erase Heads: The Telltale Tape

Here's a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma, or at least an obscure record in a sleeve in my apartment. From the Watergate era (the record's undated, but I'm guessing 1973 or -4) comes a re-enactment of what might really have been on that tape that so famously suffered an 18-minute gap.

The recording is engineered to sound just like an audio environment captured by bugging; the mikes are away from the actors, the traffic and the squeaky cabinet door and blender are coming through loud and clear, and you're forced to lean in to hear the dialogue.

It's not parody and it's not really satire – just some guys trying to do a good impression of what they think went down in the Oval Office between Nixon and Haldeman on the day everyone thought he egregiously implicated himself.

Not a lot of information survives about this record; Dr. Demento's played it a couple of times on his show (played carefully, I should think, since the dialogue is full of a lot of good old Nixonian cocksuckin' motherfuckin' profanity), but I still can't confirm who produced it or who's doing the voices. Is Phil Austin playing Nixon? It doesn't sound like his Nixon impression on Roller Maidens from Outer Space. Is Frazer Smith in there? And Haldeman sure sounds like Michael Gwynne. I've queried Smith and Gwynne and if they respond I'll update this post.

Harold Way: Battle Hymn of the Pubic / Frustration

From the golden age of assholes who start statewide propositions to keep the gays down (will that age ever really end?), a band called Harold Way react to the Briggs Initiative of 1978 with these two uptempo rockers. I'm unable to find any background on the band or the label.
