Skin: Sanity

This particular Skin is a Boston band from the 1980s, and apart from a 12” single that came out previous to this album, this 1987 full-length was all they released (on a custom imprint, as far as I can tell). It’s all pretty much bar-band medium-rock, except “Kakania”, which is the reason I originally bought it: a dark uptempo jungle instrumental with skronky sax riffs and vocals coming through an in-the-cracks harmonizer. Boston animator Karen Aqua made it the inspiration for her animated short of the same name in 1989, and I saw it at The Flicks in Boise, Idaho in one of the first theatrical collections of animated shorts I ever saw, which got me hooked on animated shorts for life.
