Bowles Bros.: Roger Buys a Fridge

The Bowles Bros. band as featured on Mermaid Frolics was a hot jazz combo par excellence. So I bought this, their only LP. Disappointingly, this evokes nothing so much as the Starland Vocal Band. It's like Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks and Steely Dan got in a transporter accident and appeared on the Enterprise fused into one group. (They had one single on Decca, which is also included here.)

    I noted your comment regarding Steely Dan meets whomsoever.
    Politely, I think you're missing an important thing transferred by the music. Those groups are American, these people were British: Something lost in the translation I fear!
